Electron transfer in photosystem I.
This mini-review focuses on recent experimental results and questions, which came up since the last more comprehensive reviews on the subject. We include a brief discussion of the different techniques used for time-resolved studies of electron transfer in photosystem I (PS I) and relate the kinetic results to new structural data of the PS I reaction centre.

متن کاملLight-induced dynamics in photosystem I electron transfer.
Protein dynamics are likely to play important, regulatory roles in many aspects of photosynthetic electron transfer, but a detailed description of these coupled protein conformational changes has been unavailable. In oxygenic photosynthesis, photosystem I catalyzes the light-driven oxidation of plastocyanin or cytochrome c and the reduction of ferredoxin. A chlorophyll (chl) a/a' heterodimer, P...
متن کاملRelease of oxidized plastocyanin from photosystem I limits electron transfer between photosystem I and cytochrome b6f complex in vivo.
We used fast absorbance spectroscopy to investigate in vivo binding dynamics and electron transfer between plastocyanin (pc) and photosystem I (PSI), and cytochrome (cyt) f oxidation kinetics in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii mutants in which either the binding or the release of pc from PSI was diminished. Under single flash-excitation conditions, electron flow between PSI and the cyt complex was no...
متن کاملDirectionality of electron-transfer reactions in photosystem I of prokaryotes: universality of the bidirectional electron-transfer model.
The electron-transfer (ET) reactions in photosystem I (PS I) of prokaryotes have been investigated in wild-type cells of the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803, and in two site-directed mutants in which the methionine residue of the reaction center subunits PsaA and PsaB, which acts as the axial ligand to the primary electron chlorophyll acceptor A(0), was substituted with histidine. Ana...
